Pentagon reviews military health care after complaints

Maryland benefits from numerous highly-diligent medical professionals who give their all to preserve the safety and well-being of their patients. This is particularly important when the patient in question is being prepared for or undergoing a surgical procedure. Surgery can be a daunting and distressing experience, so it is important that everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Negligence, carelessness and improper training can all lead surgeons and their assistants to make mistakes. Complaints about this, along with various other medical malpractice concerns, led to an unexpected review of military health care by the Pentagon.

Concerns had arisen that patients were struggling to be able to see their doctors. Furthermore, a number of incidents had been reported in which patients had suffered injuries as a result of surgical errors. In one case, a retired Marine died of complications following surgery in Maryland to remove his gallbladder.

However, the review suggested that overall the military health system provided a similar standard of care to that provided by private sector facilities. However, according to the Defense Secretary, the results of the study still suggest that there is room to improve the system.

A good standard of health care is vital, particularly in the case of surgeries. Surgical complications can have life-changing or even fatal repercussions and should not be ignored. If you are harmed as the result of a surgical error, you may benefit from the advice of an attorney. By challenging those responsible, you can pursue compensation and justice for your injuries.
